Here is an installation at Grassy Point by Premier Homes. They use a cyprus decking, then tar paper, then TCM4, 1/4 inch furring strips, final plywood and lastly elastomeric. We maintain full performance of the TCM with the 1/4 inch space which allows the multi-layered radiant barrier system to perform. with an emissivity of .02 we expect full performance rejecting 98% of the IR heat gain. Notice the temperature differentials on the outside of the roof. One reading is facing the TCM and one reading is directed at the tar paper. Readings were taken at 9:30 am with a fair breeze out of the east. Click below for a video clip of the installation.
